story - LEAVING ON A JET PLANE

Ever wondered how late you can leave it until an airline won't let you board? My wife's flight to Singapore was due to depart from Penang at 10.30am.

9.30am - Yin Ping arrives at Greenlane Heights after going into the hospital for morning rounds. I go down, get in the car and start driving like a madman, at one point taking our 15 year old Nissan Sunny up to a 110kph, south towards Penang International Airport.

9.54am - We arrive at the airport and I tell her to hurry to the check-in counter. At this point I actually didn't actually think she would be in time to catch the plane although she is fortunate in that she only has hand luggage.

10.02am - Yin Ping rings me to say that they are now boarding the plane! Close, close, close!!
